About Us
Guided by Locals Born Here:
Nativo Tamarindo is Tamarindo’s 100% locally owned eco-tour operator.. We offer immersive wildlife experiences across Guanacaste’s coastal ecosystems.
Our Estero & Mangrove Boat Tour travels Tamarindo’s estuary inside Las Baulas Marine National Park, revealing crocodiles, howler monkeys, iguanas, and coastal birds. Our Sea Turtle Watching Tour (October–April) guides guests on night walks to observe nesting Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green sea turtles at beaches chosen by season. Our Dry Forest Hiking Tour explores ocean-view trails for all levels.
As locals rooted in Tamarindo, we know this land, its wildlife, and its ecosystems. Certified bilingual guides. Small groups. Sustainable eco-tourism by design.
Luis Barrantes
Born and raised in the Tamarindo area, Luis has extensive knowledge of the region. Combined with his experience — he has worked in tourism for over 10 years and is a certified local guide — he’ll guarantee you the best local experience possible.
With a focus on nature and ecology, he offers guests the chance to discover and experience Tamarindo in its most natural form on every tour.
Mauricio Guerrero (Shaggy)
Mauricio has over 20 years of experience; he’s been immersed in the world of mangroves since the young age of 13. An excellent captain, Mauricio is highly skilled and has extensive knowledge of the area—he’s undoubtedly a key part of the company.
With his charisma and personality on every tour, he’ll ensure you have an unforgettable experience.
Susan Barrantes
The newest addition to the company, Susan will welcome you with a big smile and explain what to expect; she’s also in charge of organizing everything before and during the activities. A native of the Tamarindo area, she has excellent tips on the area and nearby places.
Her next goal within the company is to become a captain, and she’s already training for it — she already has her boating license and is honing her skills in maneuvering the boat.
